Why the kit exists
Photography lies. Your hair doesn't.
Every screen shows colour differently. Cameras make blondes look yellow and browns look darker than they are. What looks like your shade on a monitor is not a reliable match. The only way to find your shade with confidence is to hold it against your actual hair, in natural light, at the nape of your neck.
That is what the ALIO Kit is for. Three physical swatches — your anchor shade and two adjacent tones — couriered to your door. No screens. No guessing. A real match.
Light and dark options
Why three swatches.
Your anchor shade sits in the middle of your range. Your kit includes one shade lighter and one shade darker — because the right match depends on your lighting, the current state of your hair, and whether you want a seamless blend or a dimensional one.
If you have grown-out colour, test the anchor at your roots and the lighter shade at your ends. The swatch that reads as one piece with your hair is your shade.
Read the description of each colour carefully. The descriptions are written to tell you exactly what the shade does — whether it pulls warm, cool, or neutral — so you can cross-reference against what you know about your own hair.
How to use your kit
Test like a professional.
Where: Natural daylight — not direct sun, not indoors under warm or yellow light. Stand near a window or step outside.
How: Hold each swatch at the nape of your neck, underneath a section of your hair. The shade should disappear — it should look like your hair continued, not like something placed on top.
Which shade wins: The swatch you cannot see is your shade. If you are between two, go one shade lighter — extensions naturally appear slightly darker once installed against your scalp.
Colour-treated hair: Test at your roots and at your ends separately if your hair has grown-out colour. Your ALIO AERA Collection order can be customised by length to account for this — ask your ALIO Accredited Installer.
Your personalised swatch card
Download and share.
Once you have selected your anchor shade, variation and method in the kit builder, you can download a personalised swatch card showing your three selected shades.
Share this card with your ALIO Accredited Installer before your appointment so they can prepare, confirm your shade selection, and advise on weight and length. The card contains your shade codes — everything your installer needs to order correctly.
Your kit price applies to your order.
R399.90 — credited in full against your ALIO AERA Collection order. Once your shade is confirmed, place your order and the kit amount is deducted. Your installer confirms shade, weight and length at your consultation.
